“What is a preposition?” Angenique Cheltenham typed on one of about a dozen computers set up in the courtyard of Althea Scatliffe Primary School during the launch of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s E-Learning and Online Test Preparation System.
The online portal, known as Learning Hub Online, will help enhance Virgin Islands’ students learning process, officials said during a ceremony at the school.
“We’ve been working on it for the past seven or eight months,” MEC Minister Myron Walwyn said of the hub, which is hosted by the Jamaica-based firm GoGSat Limited.
The website, which is already live at www.learninghub.online, allows students from grades four through 12 to access lesson notes, 24-hour online tutoring, educational games and other functions, Mr. Walwyn explained.
“This opportunity provides parents the ideal way to monitor their children’s progress or be in a position to be in constant communication with teachers,” he said.
To have full access to the resource, parents will be required to pay $5 a month, Mr. Walwyn said.
